Yard Waste Dumpster Rental across metro Atlanta

Yards here make debris in bursts. A thunderstorm comes through and limbs are down; a landscaping redo pulls out beds, shrubs, sod and mulch all at once; spring and fall cleanups fill bag after bag. Regular collection is not built for it: inside the City of Atlanta the curb limit is eight cubic yards of junk or tree waste, bulk pickups have to be scheduled, and debris from tree trimming or removal by a contractor is the contractor's to remove (City Code Sec. 130-40(c)(1), (4)). A container on the driveway takes all of it, the week it happens.

Two things shape the job. Clean green waste is worth keeping clean: bagged household trash, plastic planters, treated lumber or chemicals mixed in turn a simple load into one nobody wants, and Georgia EPD says yard trimmings are banned at certain landfills, including lined municipal solid waste landfills. And yard waste is bulky and light until it is not: soil, sod, wet leaves and stumps are heavy. We size for the mix.

At a glance

What you get with yard waste dumpster rental

  • Branches, limbs, grass clippings, leaves, shrubs, hedge trimmings, soil, sod, mulch, weeds, roots and small stumps
  • A 15 or 20 yard for most homes; a 10 for small cleanups and tree trimming
  • Same-day or next-day after a storm in many areas, depending on availability
  • No bags, no trailer trips, no dump runs
  • Yard waste directed to recycling, composting or mulch-processing facilities whenever possible
  • Landscapers and contractors: recurring yard waste service

Storm cleanup, tree work and landscape redos

Storm cleanup is the big one. Heavy rain, thunderstorms and fallen trees can leave limbs, branches and outdoor debris across a yard in an afternoon, and a 20 yard on the driveway takes the whole pile in one go.

Landscape and tree jobs are the planned version — beds, shrubs and hedges out, a tree trimmed or removed, mulch and sod replaced, a rental property or an HOA common area tidied, a property readied for sale. Landscapers and property managers can set up recurring service for ongoing green waste, and for mixed jobs we can recommend separate containers for the green waste and everything else.

Soil, stumps and the weight line

Branches, brush and hedge trimmings are light. Soil, sod, wet leaves, stumps and roots are not. A 20 of brush is nowhere near its weight allowance; a 20 heaped with dirt is well over it. Tell us the mix and we will size it — usually a 15 or 20 for the green waste and, if there is a lot of soil, a 10 alongside. Georgia's definitions explain why each load should be one kind of material: yard trimmings are leaves, brush, grass, clippings, shrub and tree prunings and vegetative matter from landscaping (Rule 391-3-4-.01(93)); EPD says land-clearing debris such as stumps and limbs is not legally yard trimmings; and an inert landfill takes earth, rock, yard trimmings, stumps, limbs and leaves but not household trash (Rule .01(37)).

Yard waste — the local specifics

Every city runs its own yard program, and none of them is built for a whole yard at once. City of Atlanta: eight cubic yards of junk or tree waste at the curb, bulk collections by appointment, and nothing generated by contractors, including tree trimming and removal (Sec. 130-40(c)). Smyrna says it will not be responsible for contractors' or tree arborists' debris, and Marietta that households, contractors and tree surgeons are responsible for disposing of construction debris. In Dunwoody, Brookhaven and Tucker, DeKalb County handles trash and yard waste collection. Georgia EPD says yard trimmings are banned at municipal solid waste landfills with liners and leachate collection, but not at inert waste landfills, and a construction and demolition landfill may receive yard trimmings (Rule 391-3-4-.01(20)). A container is for the pile that is bigger, heavier or sooner than the curb can handle. The what can and cannot go in guide explains what has to stay out of a green load and where it goes instead.

Answers

Yard Waste Dumpster Rental — your questions answered

Do I need to bag or bundle the brush?

No. Load it as it comes — no bags, no bundles. The only things that matter are staying level with the top rim and keeping household trash and chemicals out of it.

Can I put dirt in a yard waste dumpster?

Yes — soil, sod and mulch are accepted. Soil is heavy, so it goes in a smaller box or its own load within the weight limit. Tell us it is part of the job when you book and we will plan the loads.

Can I put a whole tree in?

Cut to fit, yes — limbs, logs, branches and small stumps are fine. Keep everything level with the top rim. Big stumps and root balls are heavy, so tell us about them.

How fast after a storm can you deliver?

Same-day or next-day in many areas, depending on availability — call before noon. If the week after a storm is busy, we tell you honestly when to expect the container.

Do you recycle green waste?

Whenever possible. Yard waste can be directed to approved recycling, composting or mulch-processing facilities around Atlanta rather than buried. Treated lumber, plastic or household trash in the box spoils that.
